Really digging the old man/professor style going on around here lately. Corduroy, cardigans, hats, and the old book-under-the-arm trick. I caught Andrew dressed like this on Sunday morning and pulled him aside for a quick snapshot. He’s doing it all by himself now. Sigh. Little guy’s all grownsed-up.
Everything is from JCrew, including the shoes. On sale every time: the full price of that place lately has gotten to be a bit much. Thank goodness for Additional 30% Off All Sale Items days!
Fall brings with it the perfect ability to layer. You nailed it, Andrew!
It wasn’t the traditional photo day when I nabbed this shot, but I had to cajole Andrew into letting me take his picture because he just looked so gosh-darn cute, don’t you think? This guy…
If he’s looking quite svelte lately, it’s because Andrew has been running… a lot. Last week he clocked 64 miles and he didn’t even run every day. The Philadelphia marathon is right around the corner! I think he’s going to do great!
Henley: JCrew (on sale last season- find similar one here); Trousers: Ben Sherman (found in a local shop in The Loop– find similar here)
Boots: Timberland Boot Company- find similar style here (a Christmas present last year that has gotten tons of wear, and they have held up quite nicely to lots and lots of walking– which is more than I can say about my shoes!)
Yesterday was picture day at Milo & Oliver’s preschool. So, of course, bow ties. Then Andrew came downstairs and yes, another bow tie! Pretty fancy, no? Now I’m interested in the hilarity of the actual school photos, because no amount of combing or brushing will tame those manes. Should be pretty funny… which is exactly what a school picture should be!
On Milo: shirt: Crewcuts (on sale last year); bow tie: same- out of stock; jeans: Tea Collection (on sale at City Sprouts in the summer– I’m telling you, buying out of season is the way to go!); shoes: Crewcuts (on sale last year)
On Oliver: shirt: thrifted; bow tie: Crewcuts (on sale this summer)– sold out, but this one is cute!; jeans: BabyGap- similar here; boots: Blundstones (a gift from Ingrid)
On Andrew: shirt: JCrew; cardigan: JCrew (ah-em, also on sale); bow tie: Forage (a father’s day present)- sold out, but I love this one by Fox and Brie; trousers: Banana Republic; sneakers: Tretorn (on sale, of course)
Whew! How’s that for a linked-up post?!
Ready for another season of Dress That Prof? I know I am! Though it might be difficult to produce outfits that are not duplicates of last year since Andrew really doesn’t need any new clothes… we’ll do our best to be creative.
Tie: The Hillside (sold out, but check out this great pattern… or this one!)
Navy cardigan: JCrew (on sale right now plus an additional 30% off– the best way to buy clothing, I think!)
Shirt: JCrew (sold out, but find similar here)
Slim-fit jeans: JCrew (find similar here)
Boots: Timberland Boot Company (sorry, also sold out but these are similar and very sturdy tough-guy boots!)
P.s.– Forgot to post this last week: two eager young men on their first (Oliver’s first EVER) day of preschool (do you think he’s excited?)! Happy Wednesday!
Hello! Yes, it is still summertime, so Andrew is usually very dressed down when he leaves for
the coffee shop work in the morning, but he was looking so cute today I just had to capture it. I think for me, it’s the hair. He has let it grow this summer and I LOVE it! I know a lot of ladies like a man with short-cropped hair, but I can’t stop complimenting him on his slightly wavy, very thick awesome hair. But of course, I think he’d be dreamy bald. Sigh.
Canvas messenger bag: Moop
Pants: Banana Republic (similar)
Shoes: Aldo (similar)
Gingham shirt: JCrew (this color is sold out, but check out this one)
Lightweight trousers: JCrew
Canvas sneakers: Tretorn (and they also have red!)
Another gorgeous day! Thanks for all the outfit love yesterday- I was definitely feeling it from you guys! So… since Andrew’s summer wardrobe consists mainly of shorts and old tee shirts, we will alternate Wednesdays with outfits from him and outfits from me, as well as the boys! We’ll see how it goes, this Family Style thing. Happy Wednesday!
Short-sleeved tee: Peg & Awl (Etsy)
Pants: JCrew (sold out, but find similar pair here)
Canvas sneakers: Tretorn
Andrew showed me his typical work day during the summer and though he is gone from our house from about 7:30am until about 5:30pm, not much of his time is spent in his office! This young man gets to hop from coffee house to coffee house to hammock to green space on campus doing his writing, reading, and research. On his own schedule.
I am not jealous at all.
Trilby hat: JCrew
Short-sleeved chambray shirt: JCrew
Shorts: JCrew, find similar ones here
As evidenced by this face, we are having trouble getting going this morning! Needing some energy after a long night without much rest and waking up to rainy skies. Sigh. Come on, sunshine!
Alright, maybe not mad. He claims the sun was in his eyes. Which brings me to… cripes. Where are we going to take outfit pictures now that the sun is blazing at 6am every morning, casting funny shadows and blinding light?
Short sleeved dress shirt, JCrew (sold out, but find one in similar colors here)
Lightweight slacks: JCrew (also sold out, but these look similar)
And in other news, quite a few other mamas out there have expressed interest in obtaining some fun summer ideas to occupy the kiddos, so I hereby designate Thursdays Adventure Day here in blog land… um… starting tomorrow! In addition to that, I will be busy with laundry and running around and packing for my trip to Baltimore on Friday to see MY MARY!!!! YAY!
Well, with teaching for the summer in the bag and graduation around the corner, Andrew can finally loosen up on the dress code a bit when he goes in for work (which he informed me last night often consists of writing at a coffee shop or outside on campus somewhere, sprinkled with a few meetings here and there- I am just the slightest bit jealous!).
Short-sleeved oxford shirt: Goodwill ($3)- find a similar one here
Canvas messenger bag: Moop
Charcoal gray trousers: JCrew Clearance ($15), find similar ones here
Happy Wednesday! And hopefully you are enjoying the same kind of glorious weather we have been soaking up lately!
