Or should I say “school.” AKA mommy’s 3-hour break (ha, ha, funny I should DARE think that I would have a break with a screamer like Oliver).

Nope. Didn’t bother to get him all dressed up. It was tempting, but after thinking about the teacher taking him to the bathroom several times (oops, that didn’t happen either. surprise.) we opted for comfort and speed in clothing removal. Besides, isn’t the title of this blog Crumbbums?

So I am probably more traumatized by Milo going off to school than he was. All reports were good from school, but I’m still not convinced after bringing him home that he is completely ready. Little bum saved all his anxiety or whatever it was for me when he got back home. Literally kicking and screaming about everything before we even walked in the door. Didn’t want to go inside. Didn’t want peanut butter and jelly. “I don’t yike bananas. I don’t yike sandwich. I don’t want to sit down. I don’t want to stand up.” Except all of this was screamed through rivers of tears. He was completely hysterical. Then refused to nap. Eeeee. After all of the screaming and gnashing of teeth, it all came down to rocking my naked two-year-old in his old rocking chair for half an hour until he calmed down. And said between gulps of air, “Mommy leaved.”

(insert sound of heart breaking here)

Is it unrealistic to tell him I’ll never, ever leave him again? I know. I didn’t say that. But I wanted to so badly.Who knew motherhood would be so painful and so wonderful all at the same time?

And the tantrums, oh the tantrums! Who has this little child become? So irrational, so emotional, so… TWO. I’ll admit, as other people described their toddlers going through rough patches once they turned two, I secretly scoffed. Not my Milo. He is the sweetest, most delicious and most delightful young slice of boy that ever was. Plus, he’s smarter than Bill Gates. Blah, blah, blah, my kid is amazing, blah, blah.

See?
