Hartland Orchard (an hour and a half from DC near the Shenandoah Valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA) was the adventure of this weekend and supplied us with apples, pumpkins, apple-butter, and good ‘ol commercial-free farm fun. And, had the weather been a bit less damp, we would have taken Milo on his first hay ride… next year for sure. We had a great time and brought home 102 lbs of apples. Yum!<\/p>\n

Also in the vicinity were several vineyards that we wanted to buy some local wine from. We chose Don’t Bring Your Children Within a Hundred Yards of Our Property Vineyard<\/em>, also known as We Suck Vineyard<\/em>, and commonly referred to by the locals as We Have Our Noses Up Our Own Assholes But We Can Still Smell Young Flesh Vineyard<\/em>. They escorted us out. I kind of wish I had made a scene, just for fun.<\/p>\n
