This past weekend, I took Milo to his second circus class at the City Museum. The class runs on Saturday afternoons precisely when Emil takes his nap and Oliver needs serious alone time, so I was able to spend some much-needed one-on-one time with my biggest boy while the two littles stayed at home with Andrew. It was so great to have him all to myself for an hour and a half- we talked about all sorts of things on the drive there. I have missed him since he started kindergarten full time!<\/p>\n

Nice also is that this class just so happens to be at Milo’s favorite place in the world<\/em>. It truly is remarkable, and in the three years we have lived in St. Louis, we still haven’t been able to explore every square inch of the City Museum<\/a>. It’s just so big! But I have a feeling we will see every last bit of it eventually… especially since we now have an excuse after Milo’s class every week!<\/p>\n

Which brings me back to the purpose of this post. Milo. And the circus. This class couldn’t be better suited to him and his ability, interest, and attention span. It is equal parts ballet, gymnastics, and crazy town. He is encouraged to jump, and jump as high as possible!\u00a0\"DSC_0009\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The pure excitement and joy that he showed to get started, pay attention, and do the exact movements his instructors were teaching him just shone through. He was attentive, excited, and all smiles during the hour.\u00a0\"DSC_0028\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It was also evident over the days that followed the class- he tried over and over to replicate the environment so he could practice his tricks at home, or at the playground. A parent asked if he was planning to join the circus when we were at the playground the other day. And he said… well, yes!\u00a0\"DSC_0060\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I love watching this guy grow and change, and learn what really interests him. Using his body and strength is his comfort zone right now. And when you see your child flourishing, whether it is in reading, or swimming, art or music, or robotics, or acting or dancing or singing, it is truly amazing and brings a sense of balance to the equation. Their sense of self and pride just shine through.\u00a0\"DSC_0072\"<\/a><\/p>\n
