We had an absolutely exhausting weekend filled with holiday parties and friends at our house, snow forts and sibling bickering and a little boy who refused to sleep and big messes everywhere we looked! The chaos of the holiday season is upon us.<\/p>\n

To be truthful, it was all just too much. Andrew and I struggled to get the boys ready and out the door on Friday night to a holiday party when they clearly should have been heading to bed instead. But it’s hard- people wanted to see them, and after too many turned-down invitations, we really felt like it was time to show up! Of course they had an amazing time and didn’t want to leave when it was already 3 hours past their usual bedtime. We paid for it with some restless sleepers, early (and cranky) risers, and two very tired parents the next day. And then we did it all again, only at our house to say good-bye to good friends who are moving. They brought the boys’ (and our) favorite pizza over and we talked for hours and hours by the fireplace. It will be the last time we see them in quite a while, and we will miss them dearly.\u00a0\"DSC_0030\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In the midst of all of this, Andrew and I struggled to write Christmas cards so we could get all of them in the mail tomorrow. The boys sensed our need for concentration and acted out accordingly- tussling and getting into every sort of mess you can imagine (play dough, cutting paper, scotch tape, an entire bag of soup beans, the firewood…). Andrew took them all out in the snow for several hours on Saturday only to return home with a hurt back. He has been hobbling around the house like an old man all weekend, poor guy. Yep, it was a rough one. But looking back, we did get a lot accomplished. It’s just that sometimes all that holiday rush and bustle and socializing comes all at once, and no young kids are going to last forever on that kind of action!<\/p>\n
