Liebster Award… Who, Me?

DSC_0023

Thanks Allison, for recently nominating Crumbbums for a Liebster Award. I know we’re not big and fancy, but it’s nice to feel loved. Below are some questions the Meep directed our way (and my answers, of course).

What book(s) are you currently reading? I just started Wildwood by Colin Meloy (of the Decemberists, with illustrations by Carson Ellis– who happens to be his wife). I’m really enjoying it (an easy adventure-read) and the quirky way the story flows. Ah, books. I’m also looking forward to reading this one. And this one.

If eating a cockroach guaranteed you and your family financial security for the rest of your lives, would you do it? Hell yes I’d do it. One measly roach for a lifetime of financial security? No doubt. Plus, I would try to cook it up in some delicious sauce if that’s allowed…

Do you have any phobias? Yes, I do. I have a serious fear of tornadoes, and have since I was a little girl. I have no idea why, but I have recurring nightmares about them at least twice a month. I call it my Dorothy Complex. I mean, I just started calling it that just now. You’re part of history.

If you could possess one super power, what would it be? Hm… that’s a tough one. I think the typical superhuman strength would be extremely helpful. Imagine never having to ask for help moving furniture! Or how great would it be to be able to lift a car off of some poor kid? Yep. I’d choose superhuman strength for sure.

What is your favorite food? Too many to choose. But to name a few, good chocolate; good coffee (wait… are those considered food?); cheese; avocados; kale; all sorts of baked goods like little cakes and whatnot. GEEZ! I don’t know. I love food.

What do you like best about yourself? When well-rested, I am a kick-ass mom. I’ve been struggling lately with that, but I’ll get back there. Also, I’m very organized and I like that. I can keep a mean house, always have something delicious to eat on the kitchen counter, and keep clutter at bay. Probably my obsession with organization is also my worst trait, though.

Do you give money to homeless people when they ask? Why or why not? I don’t. Though I struggle with this, I feel that reinforcing begging rather than seeking help in more productive ways helps no one in the long run. I’ve been known to give them food, though.

If money was not an issue and all your basic needs were taken care of, what would you do with your life? Exactly what I’m doing right now. Really. Right now the most important thing to me is providing a safe and happy place for my boys to grow up. When they get older, I dream of taking them all over the world to see how different people live– you know, to step outside of this. But that would be very pricey, so I guess that’s what I would do. Travel with my family. And later, just with Andrew!

When do you feel the most clarity? This is probably such a cliché, but walking through the woods makes me feel so lucid. I feel most clarity when I am just able to be outdoors, but there’s something about the woods.

There are three contestants and only one can win: cake, pie, or cookies? Cake. On top of a cookie pie.

Squirrels: love or hate? Oh, you mean “tree rats?” Yeah. I’d have to say that I despise squirrels. You know, after the whole tomato thing. It’s personal.

p.s. I love that you love organizing and think of it as a good/bad trait. I have this same one. And I also think you’re amazing for eating a cockroach, sauce or no. My family would just have to be poor.
