Weekend Sickies

We spent the weekend just getting through. I hate to live life that way, but that was our reality. Passing fevers around like hot potatoes and stealing pieces of sleep wherever we could. Days were spent lying around on the couch, reading James and the Giant Peach, tidying up here and there, and warming up by the fire. Nights were spent tending to very sick and hot little boys, mumbling gibberish in their sleep and crying out from bad dreams. And Sunday morning I realized that I was certainly coming down with whatever they had… a pounding headache, aches and pains, and a fever, along with all the upper respiratory crap that goes along with it.

Today the boys are off school for President’s Day, and I’m afraid I will be having another one of those get through it days, but that is just how some days are, right? Let’s hope for a quiet (rainy) day with lots of cooperation and maybe even a nap! I can dream, can’t I?

I will be eating this salad (I make mine without cabbage and it is my favorite food lately) for the next few days… let’s kick this cold! Hope this Monday finds you well!

  1. I love how your dog is quietly taking advantage of the sickness at your house, by cuddling up with whoever is sleeping.
Hope you feel better soon. Being sick with little ones is the absolute worst.

  2. Whew! What a weekend, and how nice will next weekend (or maybe next Monday when you’ve had a weekend PLUS the return of a school day) feel when you weathered all of this!?

  3. Ugh. We had the same thing a few weeks ago. And now Frankie has a cold (and the crankies that come with it).

Hang in there. I wish I lived nearby and could deliver some chicken soup — it works!

    xoxo

  4. I’m so sorry you guys are sick right now. And they must really, really be sick- I’ve never seen them asleep before! Elderberry syrup can minimize and shorten the duration of cold symptoms if you find yourself in need of some natural remedy. Hope you guys feel better soon and that getting through the day isn’t too tough. xo

  5. Hopefully you are all feeling better- I’m starting to wonder at the injustice of winter with the cold and short days AND all the colds and flus. I’m sure this will be the last illness of the season, and they do look sweet when they sleep!

  6. Sorry you are all passing around The Yuck. It’s going through our house too and the only one who is immune is Julian because he is a secret robot and never gets whatever lung butter we pass among ourselves. I hope you all feel well again soon.

A few questions: What is that amazing looking little plucking instrument? Is that the real bag you use for your camera? (Because it is magical and rad.) And how are you so good at keeping your jade plants alive when I am a notorious jade murderer, even though I am not sure why?

  7. I hope you are all healed! We were passing around sickies all last week…maybe the week before too?

And your apron is adorable…you look too good to be sick!
