Weekend Shenanigans

We enjoyed a nice slow weekend together for the first weekend in a long time. Milo battled a stomach bug on Friday night and Saturday morning, but it had passed by late afternoon, and at the urging of Milo and Oliver, we spent our afternoon celebrating a balmy October day decorating for Halloween. DSC_0036

The boys were more than enthusiastic about our graveyard, and we picked up a nice big skeleton to hang from our third floor window that looks like he is scaling our house (creepy!). Andrew built a marble track on our front steps with Milo and Oliver while Emil tried repeatedly to knock it down. I took him for a walk down the block so they could have some peace, but the whole time he kept repeating in a sad little voice, “Miss Papa! Want Papa!” so we weren’t gone long. That one sure is a papa’s boy!

By Saturday evening, Milo was well enough to partake in quite the dance party in our kitchen. Andrew took some video of it which I intend to post… Oliver will be mortified some day, but it sure is hilarious! DSC_0068

And look what we found! The tattered old Thor costume both Milo and Oliver were obsessed with at the same age. Here is a picture of Milo wearing it (scroll down toward the end of the post to see); here are a few of Oliver. I’ll be sad to see that costume go! DSC_0085

Emil kept trying to feed the skeleton his play food- he was very concerned about his well-being!

On Sunday we woke up with freezing cold noses from our open windows- rain had finally brought more October-like temperatures. We dressed in our warmer clothes and headed out for a long walk to an early-morning birthday party. I spent most of the time in the kitchen listening to good music and cooking chili, baking cornbread and banana muffins for Milo’s class for Monday- it was a wonderfully slow, meaningful day.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oh man, I want a marble track! It looks like a total blast. Bless Andrew’s heart for building such a sweet run for marbles for the boys, and being such a papa that the little one can barely part from him for a block. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, you guys are awesome parents!

  2. I love your home and yard and deck. It’s great that you all love spending so much time outside because your little piece of land was made for it. 🙂
