We had an absolute overdose of fun this weekend, let me tell you! Friday night was off the charts fun when we went out to dinner and drinks with our friends Maggie and Alex. It was a long overdue night out without the kids and we could not have anticipated how much fun it would be… those two are a riot and the laughter flowed as freely as the booze. It’s not often that we drink a fair amount anymore, as the kids are early risers and we always feel the effects the next day, but this one was worth it and we continued to laugh well into the late morning despite headaches and tired eyes.
We were then happy for a surprise visit from Andrew’s stepfather (you know, the one who sewed up Oliver’s eyebrow last year?) as he had to make an unexpected stop due to weather while flying back to Ohio after helping on his father’s farm. He stayed overnight and they boys flocked to him, vying for his attention and care. Sunday morning he headed back out to complete the trip, but not before letting the boys sit in the plane and pretend to fly. He would have taken them up for a few minutes if it hadn’t been too windy. But flying these planes is precarious business, and we’re grateful he takes it seriously and carefully.
I was also grateful for some much-needed one-on-one time with my friend Elisha after this past winter break. She is a dear friend and I always enjoy her company! Friends and family make life so grand!
I am looking forward to a lot of changes this week. In addition to the boys’ first full week back in school, a couple of doors have opened up for me that I was not expecting (thanks to this here blog and a very supportive friend). Changes are in store, but instead of feeling nervous and anxious, I feel excited and ready. A sign of growth in every way, for all of us!
Happy Monday.
You make life good. Cheers to the magic of the universe connecting us and to more good times in 2014.
So exciting! Can’t wait to hear about your new adventures!
oh so much fun!
How lucky are those boys to get to play in a real airplane?! Wyatt would have gone nuts. Can’t wait to hear more about your new opportunity, sounds exciting.
