So pleased at being asked to collaborate with Jessica over at The Ma Books for A Week’s Wardrobe. And thank you to Andrew for taking lots of pictures last week! Check out all the outfits and where I wore them here.
P.s. — Thank you to Mariah over at Everything Golden for the beautiful scarf!
beautiful!
I have a question – response optional, of course. You’ve mentioned a few times “saving up” for thing you want to buy. What’s your system?
We have been toying with ideas of giving ourselves allowances to keep track of our indulgences (lattes for him vs a haircut that’s not free for me…, with an occasional purchase of climbing or skiing gear), but we haven’t decided whether getting a mason jar for a weekly cash withdrawal is better, or some kind of an account… I always wonder what others come up with. I know this wasn’t the topic of the post, but thought I’d try.
Veronika,
What works for us is using a cash allowance type of thing — I withdraw a certain pre-agreed-upon amount of money each week and from that come groceries, kids’ needs, coffee or lunch, gas, etc. I budget a certain amount to set aside and physically put it in a jar at the beginning of the week so I don’t just spend it. From that come all my clothing purchases and gifts for Andrew or the kids. Sometimes I have to dip into the pot, then other weeks I add more based on extra income I might add (from writing for the Post or the like). It is a system that works well for us!
Thanks, Lauren! I’ll see if I can incorporate something like it into our operations 🙂
Love it!
Where are the tie dyed leggings from? I have been looking for some, but all I’ve found is black and white which I sort of love and sort of hate.
I am loving this casual, turban scarf look so much… chic without effort!
The leggings are from shabd:

Very well-made, and I also love them in these tones:

Though you should snatch up the first if they have your size, as they are on sale right now!
I got so excited when ‘the ma books’ posted your picture on instagram… for a split second I thought you’d joined. Oh well! Great week worth of outfits, as always 🙂
Awesome, thanks! Do you have the XS or the S? If you wear the S there’s no way I could fit into XS! I’m pants size 25.
Liz, I wear an XS, and they are pretty tight. I also wear 25 in pants, so you should be fine!
