I’m thrilled to be hosting this giveaway today in collaboration with VAUX Shop and the Dream Shop Collective! Leave your email address below for your chance* to win all of the above: a beautiful 60’s Vintage Ivory White Fine Knit Collared Cape with Fringe, Vintage 70’s Oxblood Red Textured Leather Envelope Clutch, and Set of Two Vintage Bangles Made from Wood, Bone, and Brass (a total value of over $170)!

Vaux Shop is a wonderful collection of timeless vintage pieces collected from all over the country. Run by long-time friends Aly Barohn and Lou Tillery who began their careers in costume and film industries in New York and Chicago, the pair set up shop in Denver, Colorado to be part of a smaller community.

In their own words, “The aesthetics of VAUX are clean, minimal, and practical, creating an atmosphere that incorporates old and new in a very livable way.”

VAUX is chock full of feminine, up-to-date basics, from delicate lacy Edwardian blouses to beautiful trenches that remind me of Jesse Kamm’s much sought-after styles and Apiece Apart’s Peralta Trench Coat (at a fraction of the price), like this dusty rose double breasted coat:

Which would be lovely layered over this vintage 60s metallic gold champagne crochet dress:

Another of my favorite items is this white beaded silk chiffon blouse with scallop trim, which would be so perfect to wear to a holiday party!

And this Peruvian turquoise pendant necklace! Perfection!

Dress That Mama: Cream Knits/Imogene & Willie

DSC_0242

So happy with these Imogene & Willie high waisted jeans I recently ordered! Online shopping can be tricky, but it’s pretty much the only way I shop for clothes anymore (unless I snag something vintage or local, but I don’t generally go into stores for clothing anymore). Knowing a brand and how it fits helps, but of course you need to test and try in order to find that out! Aside from being a bit long on me (I’m 5’5), these fit perfectly.

On the other hand, I’ve had my online shopping fails, like the black high-waisted jeans I got a couple of years ago from a brand I had never heard of (BLK Denim — avoid at all costs, turns out this brand is expensive but not well made) that ended up ripping and getting baggy and weird in all the wrong places. So, the Imogene & Willie black high-waisted version is now on my Christmas wish list. I will keep it real, folks. DSC_0257

And speaking about cream knits, be sure to check out the giveaway I’m hosting above to win a beautiful vintage ivory knit cape, along with vintage wood, bone, and brass bangles, AND the prettiest leather clutch I’ve seen this season (also vintage)!

And let me know if you win!!!

This is going to be a GREAT day

Things that make me unreasonably sad: when people cannot bring themselves to engage in the simplest forms of common courtesy, like holding the door for people who are right behind them, or looking up from their phones to thank those who go out of their way to hold the door for them. Really, truly, it makes me so sad I could cry!

But this guy, and how he wakes up in the morning, oh yes. That makes me very happy. This one’s for you, Andrew.

P.s. — Bonus points to whoever guesses what movie this is from first!

Weekend Shenanigans

DSC_0135DSC_0142DSC_0143

This weekend we put up our Christmas tree, went to a holiday party, took our Christmas card photos (I can’t wait to share it with you later this month!), and did all the other regular weekend things like cleaning and baking, doing laundry, getting groceries, etc. It was a success, and I feel pretty on top of things going into this week. Which is good, because there’s a whole lot of Christmas present shopping to do now!DSC_0139DSC_0150DSC_0149DSC_0145

We had our first fire of the season… which was cut short by the realization that the damper in our chimney is broken. After a chilly morning with all the windows open, we finally got all the smoke out of the house. Yeesh. DSC_0159DSC_0163DSC_0177DSC_0178DSC_0183

And if putting the star on the top of the tree turns into an acrobatic feat, you know you’re a circus family. DSC_0184DSC_0187

Emil and Milo had a really sweet discussion about what they would like to get each other for Christmas while they were lying under the tree. Heartbreakingly sweet! And Emil has proven to be our most enthusiastic family member about all things Christmas. He walked downstairs early Saturday morning and immediately started decorating the tree while humming to himself and stating, “Oh! It looks so Christmasy!” DSC_0196DSC_0153DSC_0134

So easy to get into the spirit of the season with these guys around! Have a wonderful day!
