I decided to challenge myself this week in an effort to continue to simplify my closet a bit more… I chose to wear a different pair of shoes every day without repeating the same pair, and it was harder than it looks! I realized I have been falling into the old shoe rut, wearing the same pair day after day. So changing things up was fun! Also, it made me remember some favorites and get rid of some that I was holding on to for no good reason.

These are not even all of my shoes! I have two other pairs of boots plus one pair of rain boots plus a couple of pairs of high heels and one pair of very worn out running shoes. No sandals, as those broke at the end of the summer. So… be honest, how many pairs of shoes do you own? I thought I didn’t have that many, but once I really counted… oh, I’d say I have about 15 pairs of shoes! However, I know plenty-a-lady with far more than that! Let’s hear your old shoe tally! Anyone?

Here’s hoping for a great pre-Halloween weekend. We are hopping on over to Compton Heights for the big neighborhood celebration with friends, so that should be a blast! Here are some random links to things I’m checking out:

I can’t decide if this is totally awesome or just totally disturbing… after watching Grizzly Man, I would have to say the latter.

The perfect Halloween costume for your friend

These remind me of a purse my mom used to have!

And… if I can find apricots at Trader Joe’s this weekend, I will be making this bread (but I can’t guarantee it will look anything like this)… I’ll let you know how it goes!

  1. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I only own 3 pairs of shoes. I’m just not a shoe person. Wait! If you count slippers, I’ve got four pairs…..

  2. Cute shoes! How many pairs I have? No idea. How many I wear? Maybe six pairs? And four of those pairs are boots. I really need to go through my shoes because I’m still holding on to a pair of kind of sparkly bright blue shoes I never got to wear at our wedding because the ground was too wet. I will NEVER wear them and yet years later there they are at the bottom of my closet.

  3. I just went through my shoes last weekend and gave 13 pairs away, or more accurately to my daughter for a mini fashion show. I was left with 33, very few of them bought in the last 5 years…so, i consider that a staple. I am, however, going to need to know where your booties came from. They are perfect 🙂 Have a good weekend, Lauren and family.

  4. I guess I wasn’t finished. I wanted to commend you for this post, because this would totally push me out of my comfort zone to wear a different pair of shoes each day, instead of hovering within my 3 most worn pairs. I might have to try this next week!

Also, did I mention I love the booties in the fourth picture? Oh, I did. Too much coffee….

  5. This is really fun! I have a ton of shoes but most of them are packed away in a giant box in our attic (once I lost my closet to Wyatt’s room I didn’t have the space). I should go through them and get rid of most, but it never makes the list. I wear only a few and I am definitely guilty of wearing the same pair day after day. James thinks I have too many and I think I have fewer than any woman I know and could use a couple more pairs. I think he has too many green t-shirts 🙂

  6. I have WAY TOO MANY pairs of shoes. And I only wear maybe five of them. I need to keep repeating when I have the urge to buy another pair… Quality over quantity!

  7. Ami– I don’t think that is sad, I envy you! I am too much of a shoe person… I really really love a good pair of shoes/boots!

And Whitney– I got the olive booties from Anthropologie a few years back, but they are a little too high-heeled, so I don’t wear them as much as I’d like.

Lilly– Your comment about the green shirts made me giggle! Too funny!

And Briana, YES! Quality over quantity, but that is so hard to do because it means turning down lots of “great deals,” which I always struggle with.

  8. I love all your shoe choices! I really enjoy shoes, but feel like I am a combination of being kind of terrible at dressing myself and never really having any money to buy clothes or shoes, so I am also in a shoe rut. I have very few pairs that I wear regularly, but have probably 12-15 pairs stashed in the closet.

That bear sleeping bag is nuts. (hoo yip hoo yip hooooo)

Our Trader Joe’s opened today and there was much squealing from me. And Wade went along obediently and was very patient about the whole thing.

  9. I love these! Your shoes and the photos. I have waaay more than 15, but I think my shoe crazy days are winding down. In the last year my only purchases have been Keds (with a gift card) and an inexpensive but comfy pair of black “wedding photographer” flats, both to replace worn out pairs.
