Fall Weekend Shenanigans

This weekend we declined all birthday party invitations and other plans and just stuck to the basics. Other than Milo’s circus class and a morning trip to the pumpkin patch, we lay low and enjoyed some peaceful family time.

Our Sunday morning trip to Rombach’s Farm was so pleasant. We arrived before the crazy crowds and the boys flew through the carnival-like attractions; the playground and bounce house, the spooky set-ups, and the corn field train ride. After that, we headed out to the most secluded area, the giant pumpkin fields. We spent the most time there just goofing around, and frankly it was the best part of the whole trip. Give us a field full of pumpkins and no one around, and we’re happy. Of course, we enjoyed all the rest too!DSC_0002

As with last year, we left without buying any pumpkins. They were so ridiculously overpriced! The boys were happy with the experience and I was happy to walk away with grocery money intact for the week! DSC_0028

We also tried this recipe for a Thai kale salad with peanut dressing and topped it with Asian marinated grilled salmon- and we will use the leftovers for Erin’s roasted sweet potato recipe for lunch- it was a winner! The weather has been gorgeous. Oh, October, how we love thee! Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

  1. I’m so impressed with your restraint on buying overpriced pumpkins. James has been taking W to our farmer’s market on Saturday mornings and each week they get yet another pumpkin. I’m not even going to ask the cost.

Looks like a fun and delicious weekend!
