Dress That Mama: Navy Monochrome

DSC_0033

One of my favorite ways to dress: monochrome. Whether it is all black, gray, ivory, or navy, something about dressing nearly head to toe in one color seems polished and classic to me. It is effortless too. Pick a color, and go with it! Accent with jewelry and shoes however you like. I’ve seen some pretty great inspiration on women wearing all one color plus a bold pattern in a bag, scarf, or even shoes. It is easy, and looks great!

P.s.- It also looks great on guys!

  1. Hahahahh! Me, dress in less than two clashing patterns? Haven’t tried it, wish I could pull it off. I love this whole ensemble. That vest is particularly great and yeah, you look so classy and cute.

  2. Favorite vest ever. I have it, too. I wear it nearly every day in fall and winter, and often with a denim top. Love your boot and necklace combo, too.

  3. Well if you count black and gray then I’ve tried this! Otherwise I think I have been intimidated to go all one color. It looks great though, I’ll be combing my wardrobe for blues.

  4. I LOVE dressing in navy. It feels both sophisticated and feminine. I also totally almost bought that top from Anthropologie, but I ended up picking something else. 🙂 Love the small leather accents that are becoming more popular. I have some dress pants and dresses that have leather piping and have lasted for years and years.

I like to do all off-white on top sometimes. Especially in the winter. It’s not so great for my complexion, but I also find it very sophisticated. Not to make a totally cheesy reference (but totally to make a cheesy reference), it reminds me of the JLo movie Maid in Manhattan where she dresses in all cream.

The only color I try not to do head-to-toe is black. I do it sometimes with small accents, but all black is too goth for me. Black and white is great though.
