*Though I enjoyed aspects of the 52 project last year, I’ve decided not to continue this year. A lot of the time I felt pressure or rushed to get the perfect portrait from each of my boys and it didn’t always come naturally. So instead, this year I’ve decided to focus on one boy at a time. I am starting a series called “He” and will (attempt to) capture the essence of each boy at this stage of life. Here is the first installment!

  1. I understand. We are 8 weeks into the 52 project, and I already feel rushed and uninspired. Sunday nights, I’m scrolling through photos to find a suitable representation of my children that week. I feel like the student who is scrambling to do her homework on the bus to school! Not how I envisioned this project!
I think you have a great idea.

  2. What a great idea, and his jumping is always amazing! My problem with the 52 project is mostly editing, I take lots of pictures of the kids every week and at this point I don’t blog often enough to sort them, so they just get lost. Already I look back on the one’s I’ve selected for the project this year and wonder why I chose them over better alternatives, but I just have to assume there was some reason and move forward. Apparently the exercise in editing is something I need!

Looking forward to seeing more of these.

  3. What a lovely idea & good on you for sticking with the 52 project for a whole year. I’ve never attempted it because I am afraid that I would not stick to it. It’s the same ‘pressure’ as the photo a day projects, half way through the month life happens and you miss days & before you know it the month is over and you’ve only got photos from the first few days.

  4. I love this series you’re doing! Such a sweet way to remember different moments and experiences for each boy. And what fun, his flying bed leaps! Pure joyous energy!
