Music Monday

Alt-J, Tiny Desk Concert. I am kind of obsessed with this British indie rock band right now. Their album An Awesome Wave won the British Barclaycard Mercury Prize (whatever that is, it sounds smart and must be smart, because these guys are incredible!). My favorite song, Hand-Made (also from An Awesome Wave) has no video, but you can hear it here.

John Grant’s GMF is such an interesting song that has grown on me. Honestly, the first time I listened to it, I wasn’t sure if I liked it, but Andrew played it a few times and I found myself humming it (especially the chorus) throughout the day. And what changes the song even more for me is the fact that Grant, a gay man, is also HIV-positive. It can’t be easy, to say the least, but knowing this seemed to change the song and lyrics to me.

And finally, though I know it’s not at all new, I have to post Gotye (featuring another favorite, Kimbra) because our boys just never get tired of this song and video, and they also really like this one (and so do I).
