Happy Friday!

DSC_0187Looking at this picture that was taken a little over a week ago, I’m absolutely shocked by how small our beets look (they are now easily twice this size)! How happy that garden is!

Today we seem to be finding ourselves making a big decision… and we’re still not sure what the answer will be — anxiety-inducing and exciting, but a little scary because of the unknowns. We are meeting with the director of the off-grid program this morning in our home and I’m looking forward to a very long conversation about this show and hopefully some frank answers!

Wish us luck, and have a great weekend…

  1. How exciting! Good luck! Also, your garden looks so rich and healthy, mine is a bit weak this year due to some not so great soil quality and limited time in the garden ๐Ÿ™

  2. Good luck! Man I want to plant beets so badly!! Unfortunately there’s no room in the two planter beds I have. Right now our squash and cucumbers are growing like mad!

Did you start the beets from seed? I think I’ll get into the late summer planting for Cali, get some beets and carrots in the ground ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Lauren, yes, always start beets from seed directly in the ground. They are quite hardy and easy to grow, with few pests. I always have luck with them and they have a pretty long growing season around here. Good luck!
