Dress That Mama

DSC_0008

Happy first day of October — my favorite month! How beautiful is this fall weather?!! We have been experiencing some really warm, sunny days around these parts, which means we still have all the summer stuff out, but no one is complaining because we all know how it is when February rolls around…

Really liking the look of head scarves these days, especially on those messy hair days. This one is on my wish list!

I’m off to help out on Milo’s class trip to a local farm with apples and pumpkins, and I can’t wait. Have a beautiful day!

  1. I love your blues and whites. I first started reading your blog in October 2012 when you ran into Erin at the pumpkin patch. So glad to have blog hopped into your space that day (although I still really miss Erin’s blog). I truly enjoy reading your thoughts and following along with your family.

  2. Pretty combo! I really like the bandana, and always feel like I can’t pull that kind of thing off. But fashion really is just about confidence, isn’t it? And you wear it well.

  3. Did you see the article “being a stay at home mom is a luxury- for your spouse” on Babble.com? The author read your piece in the Washington Post and one of the comments affected her enough to write her own lovely piece about staying at home. I thought you would want to check it out if you haven’t seen it already.

  4. Wow, that article was great. Kudos, Lauren, for getting the ball rolling for someone.
The few comments I saw were also kind and enthusiastic. Must be folks from outside of D.C. metro… ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Love that headscarf! I actually wore one today as well (in the rain and with much less style). And now I’m going to click that link and read the article… or sleep… decisions decisions ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Hi Lauren! Been loving your posts as of late. Regarding your shoes, is the heel height comfortable for daily wear or just for short errands? Just curious because I love the look but my feet have had issues ever since I had my baby (carrying him in my tummy was hard on my feet).

  7. Hi Kay! Thank you! The heel height is comfortable for me only because they are platform heels, thus not actually very high. But here are some really cute similar styles that are lower:

These are actually flats, but have a similar toe detail:

And these handmade shoes are a lot like clogs, only flatter (and more supple):

I think the key to finding comfortable shoes with heels is to really identify a brand that feels right for you — they should be well-made with the foot’s design in mind. This usually means you can plan to spend a bit more, but a good shoe will last years and years and look beautiful too!

  8. Thanks for sharing my scarf Lauren! I just discovered your blog and I’m so happy I did, I LOVE your style! I’d love to collaborate somehow, you’re my dream customer;) I’d be happy to trade some goods for some of your styling magic, let’s connect!
