Outside Your Window: A First Book of Nature (by Nicola Davies, illustrated by Mark Hearld)
This Christmas, much to our delight, the boys received a plethora of beautiful, involved, informative, and just downright awesome books from family and friends. Some of our favorites include The Way We Work, Animalium, and The Story of Buildings. But this book, Outside Your Window, is such a refreshing take on the sights and sounds of nature, told through expressive poetry. Each page is delightful to look at and we will cherish it for years to come. Quite honestly, we have such a lovely collation of children’s books, I can imagine holding onto them forever, then passing them on to grandchildren. Some of the best magic is found in books!
Love your book suggestions, Lauren.
Bought a book by Richard Dawkins for my husban’s birthday. Along with a few others including Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane which he had trouble putting down.
Also bought the map book and another for my nieces by the same author/illustrator – just love those!
Happy New Year!
Hi Lauren, Just wanted to tell you that I love your children books ideas. I also bought the MAP to my son for Christmas and he loved it! Keep them coming!!!
Great book suggestion…the illustrations look amazing!
Hey, while we’re on books I’m halfway through “The Goldfinch” and whoa. Intense. It’s been hard to put down, thanks for the recommendation!
The kids are still talking about you guys, we’re all missing you. C’mere again as soon as you can.
Annie, how the heck are you halfway through already? I have been working on it for weeks now… and yes, it’s seriously intense. I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
I loved The Goldfinch. It took me ages to finish though, it’s quite the book.
And you know I love those kids’ books. Looking forward to writing more regularly about our bookshelves. Both my girls will choose poetry over prose any day. I love it.
Thanks for the recommendation. This book looks like a wonderful treasure. Adding it to Isadora’s wish list now!
