Happy Friday

DSC_0022DSC_0013Despite the beautiful weather, it’s been a really crappy week over here. Oliver, Emil, and I all got the flu and just to warn you if you haven’t already had it this winter… it’s a doozy. Poor Oliver was down for the count for 5 days, and I could barely get out of bed for 3 of those. Something about getting knocked down like that for several days in a row is just crazy. I’m finally feeling better just in time for Andrew to travel out of town to visit friends for the weekend. I know he is looking forward to it and after the week we’ve had, boy does he deserve it!

By the way, while I was lying around in bed trying not to think about how rotten I felt, I happened to catch the first episode of American Crime. Have you heard of it? Whoa. It was so intense and gripping, I can’t stop thinking about it. Watch the first episode here. But be warned; it’s not an easy watch. If you have seen it, what did you think? I am totally hooked.

Hope you’ve escaped the nasty illnesses going around and have a lovely weekend!

  1. Glad you’re all starting to feel better, Lauren! The kids and I have been sharing germs all winter while Dave has stayed mostly healthy. I thought moms were supposed to be the ones who avoided the germs? 🙂
We’re excited to see Andrew this weekend, next time you’ll have to come with him!

P.S. American Crime is sitting on our DVR — I’ve been too tired to watch it. Maybe this weekend!

  2. Yes, Amy! I read somewhere that we are typically attracted to partners who have an opposite immune system from our own (thus ensuring a more diverse immune system in our offspring) and so far, it seems true. Andrew and I rarely get the same illness… unfortunately, or kids have to suffer along with one or the other!

And next time, I would love to come with him (without any germs that is)!

  3. The flu took out Marcus too – he missed an entire week of work, which is unheard of for him – but honestly, he was sick the weekend before and after as well. He also developed an ear infection at the end. The rest of us felt generally crappy – I’m sure all our bodies were fighting off the virus in some manner. I’m sincerely glad that last week is over. It’s amazing how long it takes to start feeling 100% after being down and out. I hope this weekend goes easy on you.

  4. My Dad has this flu and he’s barricaded himself in his bedroom refusing to see anyone. All four of my little family ae coughing and achy right as we are about to board a plane to England. So long as we don’t plummet into the ocean I’ll take it. Roll on Spring.

  5. So sorry that you’ve been suffering from the flu! I had to take prophylactic Tamiflu when the whole family came down with it over Xmas, and it looked awful from the outside. Glad that Andrew is feeling well, and thanks to you and Amy for entertaining G and enabling a last pre-baby boys weekend for him! You stay well, and recover well. Jealous I won’t be able to see you all this weekend!

  6. Oh, Cat, I would have made Andrew cancel the trip if this were four days ago, but really I’m feeling so much better and so are the boys. I went back and forth about it but really didn’t want to ruin the guys’ weekend, you know? Missing you and wishing I could rub your little baby belly! 😉

  7. Maggie, Godspeed. Good grief, if you guys get the flu on your way to England, you’re going to need all the help you can get. I hope you have a wonderful trip, though. And NEXT YEAR we are coming with you guys!!!

  8. I’m glad the boys’ weekend worked out for them! Cat, enjoy having the time to yourself — it’s about to become very valuable! 🙂 When are you due?

  9. My entire family has been mowed down with the flu this week, as has my older kids’ school, and I hear that several other local families have been hit. Thought we were on the mend, finally, until kid #3 puked again today (making it Day 5 for her). Ugh! Hope you’re all better soon! I keep holding on to the promise of more sunshine and warmth next week (and no sick bellies). Spring’s coming!

  10. I hate that you guys got sick, too! Everyone in our house got super sick: Wade got mono, Audrey ran a 105 fever (yikes!) for 5 days, and then both kids got double ear infections. I spent a good amount of time Saturday crying because I was tired of Winter, and tired of everyone being sick. And then I got sick, and now I’m finally well enough that I’m wearing real going-out-in-public clothing today. Giggety. Spring!

I hope you guys are on the mend, too. xo
