My Friend Ben

Despite the cold weather, we have had warm hearts thanks to the many friendly play-dates arranged with neighborhood families. And though Milo’s best friend Ben lives farther away, we still make the effort to get these boys together as much as possible. They absolutely love hanging out, and this Monday visit was no exception… though Ben did show extreme aversion to Andrew for some reason!

The great thing about seeing these two play together is their obvious adoration for each other. Every visit they greet each other enthusiastically with hugs and kisses, and attempts at saying the other’s name. Milo’s “Ben” sounds more like “Beh,” but Ben doesn’t seem offended. Ben is 3 months older, so he still has an edge on Milo- taller, faster, and more verbal. But the gap is starting to close as they get older together. Yesterday they seemed a bit more like equals, imitating each other’s every move. There were lots of “uh-oh’s” and giggles as they pretended to fall down and get hurt, or throw something on the floor “by accident.” And after cooping two toddler boys in one downstairs for a morning, we decided to take them down the road to Rock Creek Park for some real exercise.

Ben and Milo ready to go: Notice Ben is already too cool to wear his mittens!
Milo trying to catch up to Ben- poor little guy just couldn’t keep up!

I can’t wait to see how these guys get along in a year or two when they really start playing and pretending! Mary & Ben, we love you!In other news… Andrew has succeeded in teaching Milo the word “Hiney.”

  1. I am telling you it is absolutely fantastic. I was mesmerized by how much fun my girls had with Dani and Joey, and even this past weekend seeing Elizabeth play with Mandy was fantastic. It is even better if you are best friends with the mom!
