Snow Day… Finally!

All right, so Milo isn’t in school yet, so technically it wasn’t a snow day, but it felt like one! This morning we woke up to a couple inches of snow on the ground… the first of the season, believe it or not. I know all of you Midwesterners are getting loads of snow this season, but we kept getting passed up until today.

Milo was thrilled. At 5:30am.
And it was difficult to distinguish between Milo being obstinate or just saying “snow” because his “snow” sounds just like “no.” Imagine him gazing out the window in a dreamy voice saying, “nooo.”

I LOVE snow. It was a wonderful way to change things up around here. Our house has many windows, but lately it hasn’t mattered much because it has been so dark outside. But not today! Today our house was bright and cheerful thanks to the reflection of whatever light there was reflecting off the snow and filling our living room, bedrooms, kitchen, and dining room. Everything seems so clean… at least until the muddy slush-stage, that is!

So Milo and I ventured out into the pretty snow for his first real snow experience. I tried to get some good footage, but really all he wanted to do was run, as usual, so most of the videos are of his back. Spills and all, he enjoyed it!

And to be fair to Milo, I messed up his traction even more by rubber-banding plastic zip-lock baggies over his shoes because he has no boots. But the winter get-up is courtesy of Aunt Katie’s hand-me-downs (the black pants are actually a snow suit worn under Milo’s sweatshirts). We had a great time walking around the neighborhood and of course, Milo insisted on going into the “oods” by our house along a little trail at the top of a hill (if you look closely, you can see a road way, way down at the bottom). We even saw two deer!
Happy Winter!
