Just an Update

No funny pictures today, unfortunately! But the day is not over…

Just a note that Milo’s second and last surgery is Friday morning. We scheduled the first available slot so there’s no chance we will be in the waiting room for 4 hours this time, and because it is the first surgery of the day, we only have to arrive an hour and a half early as opposed to two hours early. Bonus! That means we need to leave our house at around 5:00am. Which isn’t that bad, considering we will all be awake at that hour anyway, and maybe Milo will fall asleep in the car on the way there (a girl can dream, can’t she?). So… wish us luck!

I am having a reality check today, on my 29th birthday. Yes, I realized it when I was at the gym on the elliptical machine entering all the data. You know, type of workout, duration, weight…. age. Aaaahhhh! Just kidding. Being 29 is great. I have a beautiful son, a wonderful husband, I live in a neighborhood I love with friendly people in a city that is experiencing such incredible history right now…. and I get to stay at home and enjoy it all every day.

Tonight Andrew is taking me out to dinner and I’m embarrassed to say that this will be our first date since before Milo was born! We’ve been out with other couples and for company dinners, but never just the two of us. It’s going to be great! I’m already anticipating how nice it will be not to cook. I think I’ll wear those new shoes….

  1. Good luck on Friday. You’ll hopefully at least be better mentally prepared, but I’m sure it will still be a rough day. We’ll be thinking of you.

Have a great time tonight, eat something decadent!

  2. Happy Birthday, for some reason I thought you were a March baby. Enjoy, you are only 29 once, I know it was a great year for me.

    Who is watching Milo, Proudie?

P.S. Make more dates, you can keep making excuses or you can make the time. We don’t go out much, but we will cook a special dinner and have an expensive bottle of wine every week or two after the kids go to bed. That is as good as it gets with work and three kids, but we don’t have to rush home to a babysitter and we don’t have to have a designated driver, so it works for us.

  3. Lauren,

I’m so glad you and Andrew had such a nice time for your birthday dinner! It’s nice to have some ‘alone time’ where you both can be relaxed and waited on. What a treat, and something you BOTH deserve!

    Love, Mom

  4. Happy Birthday Lauren! I am so glad you are getting out, just the two of you, for dinner!I hope that you have (had) a wonderful time! Also, you will be in my thoughts on Friday!

  5. You have a very average husband. But your kid is cute and amazing.
    Andrew, average.
    Milo, awesome.
    Proudie, average.

  6. Clearly you’ve never met Proudie.

She recently won the competition for Best Dog in the History of Canines.

  7. Happy Birthday, Lauren. 29 – enjoy the last year before you become a grown up! That’s what I always thought as a kid…that grown ups were those 30 and older.

Where did you go for dinner? Was it nice?

  8. Lauren,

When I was 18, they said never to trust anyone over the age of 30. Whoa! That was a long time ago, and in some cases, it still holds true….

Peace and Love, Your Mom 🙂
