Dress That Mama: White

DSC_0021

Yes, this is virtually the same outfit as last week, right down to the hairstyle… except for the dress! But I am a firm believer in wear-what-you-love, buy fewer items, and save for high quality. So there will be lots of repeats on Dress That Mama this year.

This is what I wore last Thursday night out to dinner for Ingrid’s birthday. We went to a French restaurant called Brasserie in the Central West End, and though it was cold, the snow made for such beautiful scenery. And the dress? A long-covetted, last-one-in-my-size birthday present from Andrew! Thanks, love! I will be wearing it a lot this spring and summer, I’m sure.

Dress: Beauchamp Lace Dress by New Zealand designer Twenty-Seven Names

February is already 1,000,000 times better than January. I’m ready to bake Valentine’s cookies (I have a great recipe to share), declutter the house (again– does it ever end???), and finsh reading this book that I got for my birthday (it’s such a page-turner I can barely put it down!). Happy Wednesday!

  1. I really, really like this. It isn’t often you see white worn in winter this way but the tights and the sweater really legitimize it. And your mom is right, you look ethereal.

  2. Ooooh, I love the dress! And no.. the clutter doesn’t end. We have moved every single year since we’ve been together (sometimes twice in a year) and every time I purge and declutter and simplify. Then, somehow, at the next move there’s still more to get rid of. How?? HAPPY FEBRUARY! Give me cookies.

  3. You look like a beautiful winter faerie with that white dress and your hair like that. Rock on with your birthday dress. (Not to be confused with your birthday suit, which will get you in big trouble for posting on the internet.)

  4. I just finished that book! I basically tore right through it. Compelling, funny, and such great voices, right? You look so gorgeous. That dress is amazing.

  5. Wow, more repeats of this would be just fine by me. What a pretty dress. Nice, store-bought clogs might be on my list for next summer. Except sadly, I guess I’ll be doing more farm work and less standing around the restaurant in pretty clogs…
You look like an ice princess.

  6. I would wear those tights and shoes constantly too – they’re such a great combo! The dress is amazing (good job, Andrew!) and the necklace looks perfect with it. Isn’t it fun to have a reason to dress up like going to a birthday?

I’ve heard great things about that book – I’ll have to get it!
